How it works + FAQ

How it works

Use Playlist Time to plan study sessions, courses, or binge-watching by converting playlist length into real watch-time estimates at multiple speeds.

  1. Paste playlist links or IDs — add one or many (new line, comma, or space separated).
  2. Optional: set a Default Range — apply Start/End to newly added playlists (great for large courses).
  3. Click Analyze — we sum video durations and build a comparison table.
  4. Fine-tune per playlist — adjust Start/End in each row to measure only the videos you care about.
  5. Compare speeds instantly — see totals at 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, and your Custom speed.

Note: totals can change if videos become unavailable (private/deleted/region-blocked) or if a playlist is updated after analysis.

Frequently asked questions

What is Playlist Time?

Playlist Time is a YouTube playlist duration and watch-time calculator. It adds up video lengths in one or more playlists and shows how long they take to watch at different playback speeds.

How do you calculate YouTube playlist duration?

We fetch the videos in the playlist and sum their durations. The totals are then converted into estimates at 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, and your custom speed.

Can I compare multiple playlists at once?

Yes. Paste multiple playlist URLs or IDs and you’ll get one row per playlist plus a combined totals row.

Can I calculate only part of a playlist (a range of videos)?

Yes. Use Start and End to calculate only a slice of the playlist (for example, videos 20–80). You can set a default range and also override the range per playlist.

How does playback speed change the total time?

Playback speed is applied mathematically (Total time ÷ Speed). For example, a 10-hour playlist takes about 6 hours 40 minutes at 1.5x.

Why might my total differ from what I expect?

Totals can change if a playlist contains unavailable videos (private, deleted, region-blocked) or if the playlist is updated after you analyze it. Small differences can also come from rounding in UI displays.

Do you store my playlists or results?

Playlist Time is designed for quick calculations. If anything is saved for convenience, it’s stored locally in your browser (so your list can persist on refresh) rather than being published as a public list.

What does the Views column represent?

Views are shown as extra context. If available, the number is derived from video-level view counts and summed across the playlist. Watch time is always calculated from video durations, not from views.
